Kakegawa Area

Connect with locals over a glass of sake at Honjin eating street, explore the uniqueness of Kakegawa castle, or make the town your base when going to see matches at Ecopa stadium.

Places to Visit

Step off the bullet train at Kakegawa Station and you are in the castle town of Kakegawa and accessible from this station are Fukuroi, Omaezaki, Makinohara and Kawanehoncho.

Things to Do

Within easy walking distance of the station is one of Japan’s most unique castles and the castle grounds which include a tea ceremony house, an original Samurai Lord’s manor, a samurai armour shop and stain glass museum, a bird park full of exotic birds from around the world that you can feed and many great little restaurants and shops.

Within half and hour of Kakegawa are the Zen temple town of Fukuroi, Green Tea Plantation paradise of Makinohara or the Coastal surf town Omaezaki. A little further afield is the small mountain village Kawane and Sumatakyo Hot spring area which are well worth the journey.
