When to Visit?
Izu enjoys temperate weather during the year and enjoys blue skies and warmer weather compared to other areas in Japan – although it is still relatively cold.
The Shimoda daffodil festival is held on Cape Tsumekisaki from mid-January and from mid-February to mid-March the famous, and extremely popular Kawazu Sakura is in full bloom (during this month it is advisable to book accommodation well in advance).
The hydrangea festival in Shimoda in June is also a popular attraction.
During school Summer holidays (mid-July to late August) there is a lot of traffic on the roads in Izu so caution is advised – the beaches are also very busy.
** Please Note – This 2 Day 1 Night Model Course is designed to be used as a starting guide to help visitors understand what attractions and activities are available in the area – it is always recommended that anyone visiting these areas should take as much time as possible to enjoy the area and not feel rushed.
